The expectations one places on oneself is often far heavier than those placed upon us by other people - at least that’s my case. Tonight I went to the Cervantes Institute here in New York to register for a Spanish class so as to not lose any of the linguistic abilities I’ve worked so hard to accumulate.
I hopped on the uptown train and headed to E.49th and Lex. Before registering for any particular class I was required to take a placement exam. They handed me a laminated test, a bubble sheet and off I went to prove myself. I finished the exam in about 30 minutes and headed upstairs to take the oral part of the examination.
